Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Utilizes proprietary stains to develop optimized H&E protocols on customer submitted.
  2. Optimization, protocol development, and troubleshooting manual, semi-automated, and automated IHC stains.
  3. Provides technical support including troubleshooting H&E, special stains, IHC, and preanalytical processes to customers and internal and external StatLab staff.
  4. Provides technical support including product suggestions and assistance to customers and internal and external StatLab staff.
  5. Efficiently and accurately cuts and stains control slides.
  6. Reviews control slides for QC acceptance.
  7. Provides assistance with QC procedures including functionality testing.
  8. Participates in and presents continuing education to StatLab customers and staff.
  9. Supports research to develop new prototype products with instruction from manager.
  10. Assists with some offsite H&E or IHC troubleshooting and optimizations.
  11. Develops positive relationships with StatLab customers and staff.
  12. Provides suggestions for process or product improvements, new products, continuous improvement, and refinements to manufacturing processes.
  13. Responds to customers/staff concerns/questions in a timely manner.
  14. Demonstrates independent thinking and initiative on a consistent and regular basis.
  15. Exercises discretion and independent judgment on significant matters.
  16. Performs in a manner consistent with company Core Values.
  17. Attends all scheduled meetings, missing no more than 10% annually.
  18. Manages any stress on the job, including but not limited to meeting deadlines.
  19. Provides excellent customer service.
  20. Follows all OSHA and other safety guidelines.
  21. Actively demonstrates teamwork at all times.
  22. Adheres to company safety standards at all times, such that no serious (requiring medical attention) injury occurred during the prior 12-month period.
  23. Follows other policies and procedures such that there are no verbal or written warnings during the evaluation period. **The duties described above are not exhaustive. Additional duties may be permanently assigned or required from time to time due to the need to respond to customer needs and remain competitive in the marketplace.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  1. Bachelor's degree in biology or related discipline.
  2. At least 5 years of laboratory experience.
  3. HT(ASCP) and QIHC certification
  4. Understanding of laboratory processes and workflows.
  5. Fluently speak, read, and write English.
  6. Effective written communication skills.
  7. Skilled user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  8. Demonstrated ability to effectively speak in front of groups.
  9. Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision.
  10. Skilled in time management and managing multiple simultaneous tasks.
  11. Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  12. Ability to manage stress.
  13. Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to: walking; bending; pushing; pulling; sitting for extended periods of time at a desk using a lab equipment, computer, phone and headset; and occasionally lifting and carrying items which may weigh up to 25
  14. Position spends approximately 50% of time sitting at a desk and 50% standing or walking. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is exposed to computers and general office equipment approximately 90% of the time. The noise level in that work environment is usually quiet. The other 10% of the time will be working in the production facility where the noise level is high.
  15. Vision and hearing must be within or correctable to within normal range.
  16. Must be able to travel, occasionally overnight up to four nights. Occasional weekend travel may be required for meetings and conferences.
  17. Must maintain a valid drivers’ license.

This is a Salaried/Exempt Position: Pay Range $66,000-$85,000 plus 5% annual bonus potential.

This is an in office- onsite position.
