Job Description
Position Description: Intersect Illinois is hiring a Proactive Outreach Associate to join its business development (BD) team. Reporting to the Vice President of Business Development, this position works with the entire BD team on proactive outreach and project work. The Proactive Outreach associate plays a key role in identifying and pursuing opportunities for growth. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with successful proactive outreach to companies via email or LinkedIn, being able to engage and coordinate meetings with such companies. Position Responsibilities: The Proactive Outreach Associate will manage a wide variety of efforts to bring investment and employers to Illinois. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Prepare for and follow-up from sales trips, trade shows, and conferences including determining targets and arranging meetings with companies
Coordinate proactive outreach efforts to corporate end users
Assist on existing projects including requests for information, presentations, real estate searches, site visits, and more
Collaborate with research team on lead generation initiatives
Perform other special projects and duties as assigned
Some domestic travel is required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Required Knowledge/Experience - Prior experience with proactive outreach to companies, attending trade shows, customer service experience
Understanding of business development, lead generation, the sales cycle and market analysis
Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently
Proactive work ethic and ability to adapt to changing circumstances
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines
Interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with various levels of management, staff, and clients.
Knowledge of the Illinois economy and trends in economic development
Ability to analyze data to evaluate effectiveness of outreach
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Entry level position not BS required but preferred BS in business, economics or a related field
Additional Information: Business Development Team

The Business Development team at Intersect Illinois is responsible for bringing business opportunities to the state of Illinois and managing the pipeline of projects to completion. Its goals include:
Promote Illinois assets and provide information to prospective companies
Develop and strengthen relationships with site consultants, brokers, corporate end users, local EDOs, utilities, and other strategic industry partners
Manage relationships and communications with State partners to bring an efficient site selection process
