General Laborer / Operator - Viroqua, WI

The operator is responsible for ensuring quality standards are being met while always upholding safety principles and guidelines. Operators may be cross trained, and move from one machine, area, or department to meet customer needs and demands. Operator work areas include Tube Bending, Presses, Laser, Shears, Paint and Pack, Assembly, and Robotic Welders,

Essential Job Functions

• Operate assigned machines to produce finished product or components.
• Read and understand blueprints
• Utilize hand tools, power tools and other special equipment within department
• Accurately utilize measuring devices such as measuring tape and calipers
• Cleaning and inspecting of completed parts
• Read and understand work instructions
• Keep work area safe and clean (5S- Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
• Utilize the common approach to continuous improvement
• Complete Other jobs as assigned

Knowledge, skills and abilities required

• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to do basic math, including decimals and percentages.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must have basic computer skills.

Education and Experience Required

• Preference for at least one year working in manufacturing environment.
• Preference for candidates with good work history.

Physical Requirements

• Performing these duties will involve twisting, turning, lifting, pulling, or pushing physical objects, standing, stooping and bending, walking, and standing for up to 10 hours per shift.
• Continuous mental and visual attention is required.
• Requires constant alertness and attention to detail.
• Working in hot, cold, noisy work areas and exposure to odors, fumes, and dust.
• Lift 1 - 30 lbs. consistently.
• Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• PPE's include safety glasses, ear plugs, protective sleeves, and steel-toed boots.
