Job Description

SequLITE Genomics (a subsidiary of Fapon Biotech) is a growing life science company developing an NGS platform to enable sequencing for everyone. We are looking for a full-time hands-on Staff/Sr. Staff Software Engineer, GPU and Acceleration to join the product development team. The position will be responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of image processing and basecall algorithms and software solutions tailored for NGS platforms. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate advanced imaging capabilities into our NGS systems, enabling high-throughput sequencing and analysis.

  • Lead the design and implementation of real-time image processing and basecall algorithms and software solutions to support NGS workflows, including image acquisition, quality control, and data analysis.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to optimize imaging systems for high-throughput sequencing applications.
  • Conduct performance analysis and optimization of image processing algorithms to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in image processing, computer vision, and machine learning technologies, and apply cutting-edge techniques to solve challenges in NGS.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical leadership and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Collaborate with product management and customer-facing teams to understand customer requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Contribute to the development of tools, frameworks, and libraries to support image processing workflows and enhance developer productivity.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Fluency and extensive experience (10+ years) in real-time C++ programming: Expertise in writing efficient, reliable, and maintainable C++ code for real-time processing
  • Highly experienced (7+ years) with CUDA programming on high-end platforms
  • Experience with UNIX / POSIX programming, Windows and cross-compatible platforms
  • CPU/GPU performance profiling: Experienced (5+ years) in performance profiling and optimization of CPU and GPU-based systems
  • Experience with Camera Real-Time Data Acquisition Systems, including GPUDirect
  • Experience with the full lifecycle of development, including product release
  • Familiarity with NGS technologies and workflows, including sequencing instruments, sample preparation, and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in image processing, and/or machine learning, with a focus on applications in the life sciences.
  • Relevant experience in base calling algorithms.
  • Good knowledge of data structure, data compression, and data I/O pipelining
  • Proficiency in other programming languages such as Python, Rust or C# is a plus
