Your first year you can expect to make a starting rate of $27.26 to $34.08 depending on your experience and qualifications. This position is responsible for performing technical duties in the installation, repair and maintenance of city traffic signals.
As a Traffic Signal Technician, your duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Repairing, troubleshooting, maintaining and monitoring all city traffic signals and streetlights
- Conducting Stop Sign and No Parking warrants
- Conducting traffic calming and speed studies, including conducting traffic counts
- Responding to resident's concerns
- Locating underground signal and street light components
- Performing the duties of the Traffic Maintenance Technician, as needed
- Coordinating with the Project Manager for new signal and streetlight installations, reviewing signal plans and inspecting sites to ensure compliance with specifications
- Coordinating activities with utility providers
- Developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs for all traffic signals
- Working with our Police Department in resolving traffic issues, counts, cameras, etc. when needed
- Communicating with lawyers/legal teams when required by providing data or other information related to legal matters
- Attending meetings, seminars and classes
- Maintaining inventory of parts and supplies
- Responding to after-hours emergencies
- Participating in Snow Fighter Operations

Applicants must:
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Possess or have the ability to obtain within six (6) months certification as a Certified International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA)
- Possess or be able to readily obtain a valid Missouri driver's license
