Job Description

Summary: We are seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as an Assistant Manager at our small grocery store. The Assistant Manager will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the store, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maximizing profitability. This position offers an exciting opportunity for growth and advancement within the retail industry.

Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership: Assist the Store Manager in supervising and motivating store staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure a cohesive and efficient team.

  2. Customer Service: Uphold a high standard of customer service by addressing customer inquiries and concerns, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring a positive shopping experience for all customers.

  3. Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory levels, monitoring stock rotation, and overseeing merchandise displays to optimize sales and minimize waste.

  4. Cash Management: Handle cash transactions accurately, reconcile daily sales, and assist in deposit preparation while adhering to cash handling procedures.

  5. Operational Support: Assist in the implementation of store policies and procedures, including opening and closing procedures, security protocols, and sanitation standards to maintain a clean and safe environment.

  6. Vendor Relations: Coordinate with vendors for product deliveries, maintain positive relationships, and monitor product quality to ensure customer satisfaction.

  7. Sales and Promotions: Support the implementation of sales promotions, marketing initiatives, and merchandising strategies to drive sales and meet revenue targets.

  8. Problem Solving: Identify operational challenges and proactively implement solutions to improve efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  1. Previous retail experience, preferably in a grocery store environment.
  2. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  3. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  4. Proficiency in basic computer applications, including MS Office and point-of-sale systems.
  5. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  6. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional education or training in business management or retail management is a plus.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and reaching.
