Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a General Manager, Grocery Operations for a long-standing and nationally recognized food and bakery supply organization serving grocery, bakery, and foodservice customers.

This is a full-time onsite leadership opportunity located in St. Joseph, MO.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This General Manager, Grocery Operations role is ideal for a strong grocery, retail, foodservice, or operational leader ready to step into a highly visible leadership position with a stable schedule, collaborative culture, and strong long-term growth opportunity. The General Manager will oversee all branch operations including team leadership, customer relationships, inventory, warehouse operations, transportation, sales partnership, and overall business performance. The organization is specifically seeking a hands-on leader who enjoys developing teams, improving operations, building customer relationships, and driving business growth within a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead all day-to-day branch operations including warehouse, logistics, customer service, staffing, inventory management, and operational performance
  • Partner closely with sales leadership to strengthen customer relationships, support organic growth, and improve overall branch performance
  • Oversee labor planning, operational KPIs, inventory control, margin performance, and branch profitability
  • Coach, mentor, and develop managers and operational staff while fostering a respectful, accountable, and team-oriented culture
  • Build strong relationships with key customers through proactive communication, operational support, and regular site engagement
  • Ensure branch operations remain compliant with company procedures, safety standards, and operational best practices
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Leadership experience within grocery retail, bakery operations, foodservice, wholesale, warehouse, retail operations, or other fast-paced customer-focused environments
  • Strong experience managing teams, staffing, operations, inventory, and business performance metrics
  • Proven ability to lead multiple departments or operational functions within a high-volume environment
  • Hands-on leadership style with strong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to balance operational execution, customer service, and business performance goals
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position offers a competitive base salary generally targeting $90,000-$105,000 annually, plus bonus potential up to 30%. The organization also provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, retirement offerings, and long-term career growth opportunities.
