The Role:

The Digital Graphic Designer is the Chief Creative Officer’s lead creative resource and is responsible for driving the creative vision of the Stila brand across platforms and retailers. This role will work closely with internal cross-functional teams to translate key marketing messages and strategy into innovative visual communication to consumers. They will also help mentor, lead and art-direct designers and production artists on various[MR1] projects.

Job responsibilities:

  • Bring fresh ideas and approaches to design and have excellent typographic skills.
  • Challenge traditional ways of thinking and come to the table with innovations for each project assigned.
  • Take a leading role in brainstorming and creative concept meetings; generate creative concepts and high-level design solutions that support creative marketing strategies and integrated campaigns.
  • Create innovative marketing communications consistent with brand and creative standards.
  • Build and nurture a strong relationship with sales and visual merchandising teams, understanding ever changing business needs and developing eye catching, industry worthy gondolas, etageres and in-store materials.
  • Concept, research, and design marketing collateral necessary for all team areas including in-store, outdoor print collateral, advertising, site, email marketing, digital platforms, direct mail, event marketing, franchise, logos, presentations and corporate identity components, education, social and digital content, as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with Visual Merchandising, Marketing, Social and, Commercial to design and implement on brand and consumer friendly assets.
  • Serve as a hands-on designer in the creative process; ensure that the creative execution supports the creative brief, brand and business strategy.
  • Collaborate with Creative, Production, Marketing, Retouching, Video Editors Merchandising, and freelance contractors and outside vendors throughout process on all projects.
  • Ensure that your creative solution fulfills the strategic vision devised by the team into effective visual communication that helps drive sales and marketing results.
  • Display authority, initiative and the ability to develop and manage all of your projects from start to finish, knowing timelines, budget and all other important communication necessary to complete the design.
  • Work with speed and elevate timing concerns as they arise to the Creative Director.
  • Be able to articulate the creative thinking process and creative point of view behind the finished concepts clearly and with confidence.
  • Be able to explain the visual design language of a piece with ease; Hold meetings and present work in an intelligent, energetic, professional manner.
  • Produce initial pre-press production ready art files and verify all pre-flight requirements working with production artists.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of design style trends, including visual store displays and advertising campaigns in general
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required
  • Strong, comprehensive graphic design portfolio with 5+ years of experience required
  • Retail creative marketing or agency experience preferred
  • Excellent typographic, design and production skills
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) at the higher design level and basic production level
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as internal and external clients
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
  • Understanding of Packaging Design and Production
  • Passion for Makeup, Fashion and lifestyle brands
