Cabling Technician Level 2 or Level 3

$18.00-$33.00 per hour based on experience

Southwest LAN Connections, LLC (SWLAN) has been a leading provider delivering Structured Cabling and Wireless broadband Microwave solutions in the telecommunication industry for the past 22 years. We are seeking to fill a full- time position for an Infrastructure/Structured Cabling Technician to help support the commercial and industrial industries we service. Southwest LAN Connections will also provide training to support our wireless microwave broadband solutions. Primary Role and Responsibilities, Skills

• Installation, maintenance and troubleshooting, of structured cabling for copper and optical networks
• Industry knowledge for design, implementation and compliance testing for Ethernet Category 5e/6/6A and fiber optic networks
• Installation of networking equipment and accessories such as data racks, patch panels, wireless access points, microwave wireless equipment and Ethernet switches
• Installation of cable support structures such as conduit and innerduct pathways, cable trays, ladder racks, j-hooks
• Ability to references and comply with industry standards including ANSI, EIA/TIA, National Electric Code and BICSI standards
• In-depth knowledge within the industry for LAN/WAN network topologies, cabling and industry standards
• Must be able to work on ladders, aerial lifts and use of various power tools
• Adhere to all required project safety requirements as set forth by the Company and OSHA/MSHA
• Maintain the company’s high standard of quality and professionalism with regards to workmanship, customer relations, coworkers, behavior and appearance
• Strong communication skills (interpersonal, written, verbal, electronic)
• Strong time management, problem solving, detail oriented, dependable, and capable of multi-tasking

Minimum requirements

• 4 years experience within the industry
• Must have personal tools for the telecommunication industry
• Must have a drivers license coupled with a clean MVD driving record
• Mandatory drug screening and back ground check for employment
• Some traveling required
• Able to lift 50lbs minimum
• Flexibility to work more than an 8 hour work shift at times
• Must be able to utilize aerial platform lifts and work off of communication structures
