Job Title: Computer Support Coordinator

Location: Oakland, CA ONSITE

Duration: 6 Months

Summary:

  • Under general direction, the Computer Support Coordinator provides support and technical assistance to computer users within the organization. They are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Microsoft Windows-based environments. The coordinator works as part of a support team and uses their knowledge of hardware and software to assist users with their technical needs. This includes troubleshooting, employee training, and maintaining computer hardware.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain network management procedures, such as electronic mail administration, data storage allocation guidelines, data backup procedures, and network troubleshooting guides.
  2. Control security of computer-related equipment and ensure the protection of end user data integrity. Maintain an asset inventory and utilization database of all computer-related equipment.
  3. Prepare and execute workstation relocation plans for workgroup moves.
  4. Operate an administrative computing help desk, coordinating responses to user help calls and implementing solutions to support requests.
  5. Maintain network resource location lists, including printer locations, network drive locations, etc.
  6. Design project automation plans, analyzing requirements and evaluating new hardware and software for applicability to project needs.
  7. Troubleshoot and resolve administrative network problems, including network communications routing, data access, printing, and administrative application areas.
  8. Monitor the daily operations of the network.
  9. Act as project coordinator for assigned projects.
  10. Provide backup coverage for other Computer Support Coordinators during scheduled days off or vacations.
  11. Stay updated on the latest developments in hardware and software and prepare upgrade and migration plans to take advantage of technology advancements.
  12. Prepare and execute desktop software migration strategies on a global basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, business administration, or a closely related field.
  • Four years of recent verifiable experience in network administration, network management, and help desk support, including experience in microcomputer applications and end-user interface and training.

  • Planning and anticipating network expansion/growth requirements
  • Coordinating network management operations with other network administrators
  • Planning and scheduling workload of other Computer Support Coordinators

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with exposure to computers
  • May require lifting, sitting, and standing for prolonged periods of time

Note: Overtime or off-hours work may be required for testing hardware and software, as well as providing emergency fixes when necessary. Additional experience may be substituted for education. Graduation from a four-year college is preferred.
