Job Description

Company Description

Redball Energy is a fast growing owner, operator, and financier of residential and commercial solar projects. We are committed to harnessing the power of the sun to create an equitable and sustainable future for all. Our passion for innovation and environmental stewardship, combined with the decades of experience and wide breadth of institutional knowledge that our team possesses, drives us to deliver financing solutions that accelerate the adoption of solar energy in the communities we serve.

Job Summary

You are a residential or small commercial solar installer, foreman, or electrician who cares about building solar systems of the highest quality. You are interested in a career in solar quality assurance and maintenance. You are technically proficient, highly motivated, and enthusiastic about solar. You like to be in the field and go out on site, but can also manage dispatching third-party maintenance crews from our office. You live in the Washington, DC Metro Area.

By joining Redball, you’ll learn from seasoned solar professionals, make good money, have work flexibility, and have great significant growth opportunities. Our team is lean (currently 13 professionals), and we are looking for hard-working self-starters. The Residential and Small Commercial O&M Manager will report directly to the Director of Construction and O&M and will work closely with the COO and Asset Management team in inspecting and maintaining our solar systems.

Responsibilities

Quality assurance:

  • Conduct Quality Assurance/Quality Control inspections on residential and small commercial solar systems we purchase from third-party builders, EPCs, and developers.

System performance monitoring and dispatch:

  • Monitor the solar systems we own and manage proactively, identifying underperforming systems and prioritizing systems repairs and optimization that will create the highest benefit relative to cost.
  • Dispatch third-party maintenance providers to repair and optimize the systems you identify.
  • Prepare and implement plant operating and maintenance procedures ensuring compliance with all Federal, State and Local requirements.
  • Provide a high level of professionalism and technical expertise.

System maintenance:

  • Schedule and dispatch third-party maintenance providers to systems for routine and ad-hoc maintenance.
  • Assist third-party maintenance providers from time to time in diagnosing complex issues.
  • Respond to site emergencies, including outside of normal working hours, according to safety policies and procedures promptly and efficiently.
  • In rare cases, procure parts, materials, services, and support resolution of technical issues when our third-party providers are unable to directly.

Customer service:

  • Redball owns systems directly, but those systems exist on the homes and businesses of others. We only hire employees who can communicate with these stakeholders clearly and respectfully such that our maintenance can be performed as unobtrusively as possible.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of solar electric systems, encompassing PV modules, inverters, racking, and other components
  • Proficient troubleshooting abilities with a commitment to timely on-site problem resolution
  • Familiarity with SolarEdge or Enphase platforms, or any other PV monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of basic electrical concepts and the capability to work safely with AC and DC systems
  • OSHA Certification highly desirable
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Comfort working in various environments, including rooftops, attics, and crawl spaces, with the ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders (up to 60 feet), and work in diverse weather conditions
  • Candidates shall be located in the Washington, DC Metro Area
