THE ROLE: Solar Maintenance Technician
Spruce Power, a leading provider of solar energy to over 53,000 customers, is the nationโ€™s #1 independent residential solar servicing company, and offers customers a comprehensive, end-to-end servicing solution including financial asset management, account services, billing, fleet management, and customer support to third-party asset owners and retail customers.
Spruce is headquartered in Denver, CO, with a presence in Houston, TX and the Bay Area, CA.ย  This role is envisioned to be located in New Jersey.
Spruce is seeking a Solar Maintenance Technician who is responsible for the inspection, repair, and maintenance of solar energy systems, ensuring their optimal performance and longevity. This role involves conducting routine checks, troubleshooting system issues, and performing necessary repairs or replacements. Solar Maintenance Technicians also assist with system installations and provide technical support to clients. They work closely with solar engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Inspect and maintain solar energy systems: Diagnose and troubleshoot technical problems related to solar PV systems, including electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Carry out repairs, replacements, or adjustments to solar components as needed.
  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to ensure optimal performance and longevity of solar systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, replacements, and parts used.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure proper equipment setup and integration.
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints related to solar system performance. Offer technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance over the phone, through email, or during site visits.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and provide education on system operation and maintenance.
  • Operate a company-issued vehicle with respect and integrity.
  • Keep up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in the solar industry.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proven experience in solar maintenance or a related field.
  • Must possess a current and valid Residential or General Electrician license.
  • Solid understanding of solar PV systems, components, and associated electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing solar systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical stamina to work at heights, in various weather conditions, and handle tools and equipment.
  • Valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and willingness to travel to different worksites as required.
EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Additional technical certifications or vocational training in solar energy systems or electrical engineering is preferred.
