Job description

Skilled Trades Services is currently looking for an 

Apartment Maintenance Technician (or Maintenance Worker / Maintenance Supervisor depending on level)

Job Summary:

The Apartment Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the physical condition and appearance of residential properties. This role ensures that apartments, common areas, and building systems are safe, functional, and well-kept by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on apartments, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and appliance issues
  • Respond promptly to resident maintenance requests and service tickets
  • Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot maintenance problems
  • Maintain common areas such as hallways, parking lots, landscaping, and amenities
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment and building systems
  • Prepare vacant units for new tenants (turnover tasks such as painting, cleaning, and repairs)
  • Handle emergency repairs (e.g., water leaks, power outages)
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
  • Keep tools, equipment, and maintenance areas organized and in good condition
  • Assist with seasonal maintenance tasks such as snow removal and landscaping
  • Document work performed and maintained maintenance records
  • Snow Removal of Sidewalks

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, Carpentry and general repair work
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand, bend, and climb as needed
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Background check required 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in apartment or building maintenance
  • HVAC certification (EPA certification is a plus)
  • Technical or trade school training
  • Knowledge of building codes and safety standards

Work Environment:
  • Indoors and outdoors in residential properties
  • May require evening, weekend, or on-call hours for emergencies
  • Exposure to various weather conditions

Typical Schedule:
  • Full-time, with possible on-call rotation
Hourly rate: $22-25 DOE and certificates if any
