Position Summary
This critical role involves managing and developing a team of direct and indirect reports and ensuring the timely and accurate completion of accounting processes in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Essential Functions
While not all-inclusive, the following is a list of primary and general duties. In addition to these listed duties, this position shall also perform other tasks as assigned, shall abide by all provisions of the Employee Handbook, and shall participate in all company initiatives and projects.
Manage, mentor and develop a team of direct reports and provide guidance to indirect reports. Cultivate a collaborative team environment and facilitate professional growth and training opportunities.
Drive the timely and accurate completion of the month-end close process, ensuring compliance with GAAP. Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial statements and reports, and analyze variances to inform business decisions.
Back-up or be directly responsible for both financial and management accounting functions, which includes the general ledger, journal entries, month-end closing, reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, cash receipts/disbursements, intercompany transactions, capital/major repair and other financial analysis as needed.
Maintain and develop appropriate internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Coordinate and assist in the year-end financial audit by providing necessary documentation and responding to auditor requests. Ensure all financial practices adhere to regulatory standards, focusing on industry-specific regulations.
Manage sales tax reporting and remittance specifically tailored to the live events industry, addressing the unique compliance requirements of fireworks, special effects, and production services.
Maintaining and improving control and integrity of the Netsuite, Flex and other internal company systems.
Work with leadership to assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
Experience and Skills/Abilities
5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
2+ years of experience managing a team is required.
Strong analytical skills and solid understanding of accounting theory/GAAP.
Experience with financial reporting ,tax filing and compliance in the entertainment or production industry.
Previous audit experience is highly preferred, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with auditors.
Detail oriented with ability to prioritize multiple projects and focus on strategic growth.
Ability to manage in a continuously changing environment.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Proven experience in decision making and problem solving skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality at the highest level and perform with minimal supervision.
Google Workspace, NetSuite, HubSpot, and Monday.com are preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, with a concentration in accounting or finance.
Certification: Licensed CPA highly preferred.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones. The person in this role must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and must move about occasionally inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery and have routine contact with individuals in the office. The person in this role must frequently climb stairs. This person in this role must be able to lift 25 lbs routinely and 50 lbs occasionally.
Travel
This position requires travel, less than 25% of the time. Travel will be mixed, local and outside the local area and overnight.
Expected Hours of Work
The typical work schedule for this position follows a standard workday, with occasional flexibility for evening and weekend work during high-volume periods. All breaks and lunches will comply with local, state, and federal laws, and overtime, if required, will be compensated in accordance with local, state, and federal laws.
