Aerospace Quality Research and Development-145 Job Description: TECHNICIAN

Classification: Non-Exempt

Pay: Hourly, plus benefits

Shift: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (overtime, as needed)

Reports To: 145 Repair Station Manager


Minimum Education and Experience:


  • 3 years+ hands-on commercial and corporate aircraft, or Part 145 Repair Station experience, required
  • Line maintenance experience on multiple airframes within a Part 121 or Part 135, a plus
  • Strong understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and other FAA approved or acceptable data and its usage, required
  • Expertise in sheet metal repair, composite and bonded parts to determine scope of work required, and materials required, with skill to accomplish proper repair, required
  • Flexibility to work changing shifts including on-call/AOG coverage to include nights and weekends; on as-needed or short notice basis, required
  • Experience in 1) structural assembly of aircraft components; 2) composite repairs, both prepreg and wet lay-up; or 3) metal to metal bonded repairs, strongly preferred; 4) Sheetmetal fabrication and repair

Primary Duties:


  • Installation of aircraft fasteners is required (rivets, cherry rivets, hi-loks, etc);
  • Responsible for executing work in accordance to task requirements and in line with AQRD's Repair Station procedures and requirements, ensuring compliance to FAA/EASA or other applicable regulations, and in so doing delivering efficient high-quality work with safety being their uncompromised priority;
  • Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with Company policies and all applicable regulatory requirements;
  • Must adhere to all safety standards established by the Company and regulatory agencies;
  • Perform work on customer aircraft or articles as requested
  • Ensure all repair requests are served in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ensure all technical data referenced for repairs is available and current
  • Interpret technical manuals, figures and drawings, as needed
  • Comply with Quality Assurance requirements as established in the RSMQCM, including accuracy of documentation such as materials used, calibrated tools used, and labor clocked to work orders
  • Consistently deliver excellence in job execution as an individual as well as a team player, ensuring high quality and efficient workmanship for on-time re-deliver of aircraft and/or aircraft components
  • Ensure the work area and hangar is kept to the highest standards of safety and cleanliness
  • At all time, maintain a neat and clean work area conducive to employees' well-being and safety
  • Report any incident immediately to Quality & Safety in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Confirm and maintain proper tagging of aircraft components, parts and panels, assuring properly stored
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the job classification and nature of the business

Essential Functions and Competencies:


  • Work is performed in and around an aviation hangar at an airport (attached to an office building); at times, the hangar may be hot/cold/dusty/load)
  • Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language;
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, with ability to drive on occasion to pick up or deliver a customer's part
  • Ability to stand for most of shift;
  • Frequently moving items, opening boxes system
  • Ability to lift, push/pull cart or parts and carry up to 25 lbs;
  • Ability to climb a ladder;
  • Ability to become certified on a forklift;
  • Read, count, and write accurately;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications and ability to become efficient in company technology and software programs;
  • Communicates in business-like manner with others within the company, and on behalf of the company
  • Must have strong interpersonal and collaboration skills;
  • Must have accurate and legible written and oral communication skills;
  • Possess a drive/passion for the aerospace industry;
  • High level of drive to grow within the repair-engineering world and the company as a whole;
  • Works as a team member, highly organized, work well under stress and handle multiple priorities;
  • Must be self-motivated, conscientious and have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks;
  • Strong organization skills;
  • Punctual and reliable attendance is required;
  • Accurate data entry is required;
  • Ability to complete work efficiently and meet deadlines;
  • Perform well under general supervision;
  • Travel may be required infrequently, overnight or weekend
