We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Aviation Operations Technician within our Aviation Department group based in Houston, TX.

The Aviation Operations Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of support services to ensure the safe operation of Occidental Aviation. Responsibilities include providing professional aviation support services while maintaining the highest standard of safety, customer service and teamwork. All duties are to be performed in accordance with regulatory standards and Occidental policies, practices, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promotes the Occidental safety culture while providing the highest level of customer service.
  • Accomplishes all aviation support activities in a safe, efficient and customer friendly manner.
  • Performs aviation support duties to include ground support and passenger handling: aircraft fueling, marshalling, towing, baggage handling, lavatory and water servicing, cleaning of OXY aircraft, and preparation of aircraft.
  • Provide ground transportation service for passengers and crew as required.
  • General hangar maintenance to ensure that all hangar discrepancies are properly documented, repaired and/or coordinated with the facilities team.
  • Maintain a safe, clutter-free hangar and ramp area.
  • Provide oversight of hangar permits and maintaining various compliance records, and safety forms.
  • Conducts duties in compliance with all pertinent Federal Aviation Regulations, Houston Airport Services (HAS) regulations, Company policies & procedures, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide oversight of the hangar facility maintenance program.
  • Provide and document preventative maintenance for all ground support equipment.
  • Fuel farm management to include fuel ordering, receiving product, quality assurance, monthly reporting, and all required inspections.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of safety and compliance related protocols including NATA established process and procedures.
  • Perform aircraft launch and recovery actions for all company aircraft to include baggage loading in accordance with regulatory and Occidental requirements.
  • Participates in department projects and ancillary duties assigned by the Maintenance Manager and/or the Director of Aviation.
  • Discreet with sensitive or confidential company information.
  • Flexible weekly schedules to include availability to work after hours for arriving/departing aircraft
  • Work outside in all types of weather (extreme heat, rain, etc.).
  • Actively participate in the flight department's Safety Management System.
  • Remain in 100% compliance with all regulatory and OXY training programs

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid automobile driver's license
  • Previous experience in aviation operations: aircraft handling, fuel farm management, hangar self-inspections, emergency action planning.
  • Operational experience with forklifts, floor machines, aircraft tugs, and fall protection equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to work well in a team environment to promote inclusion.
  • Ability to lift/move 50lb and the ability to exert physical activities for extended periods of time, including frequent bending and kneeling.
  • Ability to complete complex tasks with minimal supervision.
