Collider is looking for an eager and talented Freelance TV/Movie News Writer to join the Collider News team!

Collider is the ultimate source for impactful entertainment news. We deliver the biggest, most important industry happenings, and provide deep analysis and sharp commentary through interviews, reviews, and much more.

As a TV/Movie News Writer, prospective applicants will assist with covering breaking news in the television and movie industry, editorializing important details about the most popular titles, and diving deep into a variety of topics. Collider reports on a wide range of topics, including (but not limited to): the Marvel and DC fandoms, streaming news related to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video (and beyond), film festival and awards season news, and all the latest developments. If you share a passion for TV/Movies, a love of writing, and a willingness to learn then please apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute 20-to-25 news articles per month.
  • Work under tight deadlines and submit tasks on time.
  • Able to maintain a contracted freelance schedule.
  • Reporting to various Editors and implementing feedback efficiently.
  • Adherence to a style guide.

Applicants must be highly motivated and possess the following requirements:

  • Relevant writing experience, especially in a News style and tone.
  • Ability to source information/news from different websites.
  • Must be a quick learner, and have a strong sense of urgency.
  • Have the ability to turn around clean, error-free copy under tight deadlines.
  • Must be able to accept and apply Editorial feedback when needed.
  • Broad knowledge of TV/Movie history and culture.
  • A solid grasp of the English language and the ability to communicate niche ideas to a wide audience.
  • Comfortable working in an entirely virtual environment.
  • Experience with Emaki is an asset.
