Job Description
CFO Consultant in our Emerging Growth Solutions Practice performs effective risk management and plans and executes our clients organizations financial strategy. It is a very important and complex role since an organization can only survive if it actively manages and safeguards its finances.
The CFO Consultant must be well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from simple accounting to broad investment and banking operations and experienced working in the technology and/or life sciences industry. The ideal candidate will be an excellent leader since all administrative departments of the organization and the outsourced accounting team (Controller, Accounting Manager,Staff Accountant) will be under their command. Experience working with venture-backed companies from early stage to high growth is required and a strong network focused in this market is desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain strong cross functional relationship with executive team
- Participate in key decisions as member of executive team
- Develop, implement and monitor strategic business plan
- Oversight of accounting, finance, human resources, tax, IT, legal and treasury functions. Develop and manage financial operating and capital budgets
- Control and evaluate the organizations fundraising plans and capital structure Management and oversight of risk management function
- Determination of investment strategies based on cash and liquidity needs and risks Manage cash flow
- Develop performance measurements and monitoring that supports the companys strategic direction
- Oversight of financial reporting, including investor presentations, board reports, management reports
- Management of RoseRyan outsourced finance team, including training, mentoring and providing written performance feedback
- Management of vendors, including actively providing referrals of key RoseRyan strategic partners as appropriate
- Oversee and manage employee benefit plans
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverage and other risk management initiatives as necessary Oversight and management of annual audit process
- Ensure company is in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Oversight and management of IT function Position is Remote, but may transition to Hybrid; role is fractional, but may be available full time if needed.
Requirements
Technical skills:
- Proven experience as CFO, finance officer or equivalent experience
- 10+ years progressive experience in senior finance management roles
- Experience working with venture-backed companies (pre-seed to Series D) preferred
- Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software Quickbooks Online, Netsuite, Bill.com and Expensify
- Proven track record of data driven decision making
- Excellent knowledge of forecasting methods and modelling
- BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus
- Proven experience in effectively partnering with executive team; works well cross-functionally and
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Utilize RoseRyan best practice standard tools, templates and methodologies in delivery of client
- Ability to strategize and solve problems
- Track record of innovation
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong people skills
- An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers
