Canam Steel Corporation is looking for a strong mechanical Manufacturing Engineer based in our Point of Rocks, MD, Jacksonville, FL or Washington, MO location.

JOB SUMMARY: Multi location responsibility for designing, implementing and reviewing the process, procedures and equipment utilized in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. Duties will include but are not limited to continuous improvement activities, equipment design/specification and capital project management. Position would work closely with the Operations and Maintenance teams and require a hands-on approach. Ideal candidate would be a highly motivated, independent thinker and possess the desire and ability to advance within the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Research and implement new technology to assist the organization in achieving desired manufacturing goals.
Evaluate and recommend improvements to existing processes, procedures and equipment design or functionality.
Design and facilitate improvement efforts to existing equipment capabilities.
View all improvements and existing processes through a safety lens ensuring any proposed changes or existing safety levels meet company safety and environmental standards.
Assist in standardization efforts for mechanical and electrical components across enterprise.
Review and calculate labor, materials and other manufacturing costs for use in decision making relative to investment or improvement opportunities.
Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
Work closely with maintenance departments to establish Preventative Maintenance requirements and assist in scheduled downtime initiatives such as equipment installations, rebuilds or upgrades.
Fill Project Management duties regarding facility improvements, expansions, equipment purchases, installations or upgrades. Duties would include budget, schedule, scope and performance oversight.
Act as a technical liaison between vendors and management team.
Fulfill primary contact role with vendors for quotation, execution of work, change orders and signoff.
Identify opportunities in the process to reduce costs and improve quality.
Provide criteria and certify Factory Acceptance Testing for new equipment.
Working hours may vary depending on project support requirements.

Career Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of 3 years' experience in industrial environment (heavy industrial preferred).
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Technology preferred.
Ability to understand complex mechanical and electrical systems, including machinery that utilizes hydraulic power and PLCs.
Travel and support multiple domestic facilities as required (25%).
Effective and creative problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Effective communication with team members at all organizational levels.
Exceptional and proven organizational and project management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and CAD systems.
