JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision of the Engineering Coordinator, provides support and assistance by performing a wide range of technical engineering, waterlines, storm water/sanitary sewer, roadway, sidewalks, drainage, and construction related tasks as required.
Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: For purposes of 42 USC 12101:

1. Provides onsite construction inspection on capital improvement projects and infrastructure maintenance projects as assigned; Applies standard engineering principles; records daily events noting progress; serves as liaison between public and contractor; responds to public questions and concerns).

2. Responsible for ensuring that all construction activities comply with contract requirements and work is performed in accordance with good construction practices; verifying that materials and equipment incorporated into the project meet contract requirements; monitoring contract labor requirements; providing adequate and accurate reports; ensuring that applicable construction safety standards are met; verifying that approved Contractor submittals are available before work is performed; verifying that actual construction progress agrees with approved progress schedules.

3. Investigates resident requests for service (e.g., performs technical research; drafts written responses and provides telephone responses concerning infrastructure, traffic, drainage, and other engineering-related issues).

4. Performs inspections and rating of City streets, street lights, structures, guardrail installation and curbs; reviews erosion control, grading plans, and water and sanitary capacity.

5. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.

Typical Qualifications

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Valid State of Ohio Driver's License and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy.
