**Contract position: 3 months or up to 6 months

Job Functions:

Under general supervision and reporting to the VP of Quality Operations, as a Supplier Development Specialist (SDS) you will serve as a vital link between Prime Aerospace customers and their supplier base. Relying on their supply chain management expertise, the SDS assess suppliers' performance, formulate root cause and corrective action plans to address systemic issues impacting performance, evaluate suppliers' manufacturing processes for quality assurance, explore potential process improvements with suppliers, and gauge suppliers' capabilities to support new customer products and programs. Proactively work with suppliers and customers to implement business process improvement measures.

Responsibilities and Duties

•Review process and flow of products through the suppliers manufacturing shop from the raw material phase through manufacturing, quality, shipping, and delivery to the customer

•Identify systemic causes for poor delivery/quality performance and develop supplier improvement plans. Facilitate and conduct Supplier Health Assessments, Capacity Analysis, and Rate Readiness

•Drive actions to mitigate potential delivery delays by utilizing industry-standard problem-solving techniques, identifying risks, performing root cause analysis, and development of recovery plans to bring shipments back in-line with customer requirements

•Conduct various types of supplier assessments: General health assessments, Rate Readiness assessment, and general QMS audits/assessments

•Provide expert assessments and advice to suppliers and customers on suppliers' delivery performance, quality assurance, process improvements, and expansion capabilities

•Create daily status reports and communicate actions and plans to all stakeholders with our customers, prime aerospace manufacturers, throughout the day

•Prepare presentations and lead meetings

•Undertake special projects as required

•Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.

•Communicate efficiently and effectively with all stakeholders to ensure timely and effective responsiveness to abnormalities

•Other duties as assigned

Knowledge of:
  • Supplier health assessments, Production Rate Readiness, and Rate Readiness assessments
  • Engineering Processes, Standard Drawings Conventions, Interpreting Drawing, Specifications, and GD&T
  • Understanding of Manufacturing Operations facility, and different departments
  • Capability Studies
  • MS Office

•Skills:
  • Strong verbal, written and communication skills
  • Project management, time management, problem solving and organization
  • Fluent English - reading and writing is required
  • Professionalism, integrity, and exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong independent decision-making skills; excellent analytical skills and professional judgment
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Ability to:
  • Work as an effective team member and lead other team members
  • Lead Assessments
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Fluent English - reading and writing is required
  • Pass pre-hire background check including DMV and credit screening
  • Pass Pre-hire Drug Screening
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Supervision Received:
  • The work is performed under general supervision


Preferred Education and Skills (including certifications):
  • Bachelor's degree (i.e., Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Management, etc.)
  • 8+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years' experience in aerospace
  • LEAN/Six Sigma experience preferred
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Effective communication skills Detail oriented
  • Any combination of education and experience may be considered

Additional Desired Skills:

Prior practical experience and implementation of Quality Engineering tools and systems such as: DOE, FMEA, SPC, RCCA, APQP, PPAP, controls plans, material control, process control, systems performance, and product evaluation.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • ASQ or equivalent professional certifications such as CQE, CQT, CQA, CMQ, CSQP ...etc.
  • Six Sigma Black Green Belt or Black Belt Certification.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Valid Auto Insurance

Pay Range: $70,000 - $105,000AnnuallyPlease note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
