Job Description:

L3Harrisย is currently searching for a Supplier Quality Engineerย located in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Supplier Quality Engineerย supports customer, business, supply base, program, and product success through analysis and application of supply chain management, quality engineering, failure analysis, business acumen, and continuous improvement processes across the business and within the supply base.ย  The Supplier Quality Engineer is a member of the Supply Chain team.

Essential Functions:

  • Support and assist with the continuous improvement efforts, deployment and management of a business-appropriate Supplier Quality Engineering program addressing customer, supply base, proposal, process, program, and hardware areas
  • Assure financial goals and measures are met
  • Continuously improve the supplier quality assurance and incoming inspection organizations' planning, tools and processes for the development, qualification, and management of suppliers and subcontractors
  • Measure, monitor, report, and improve the internal and external performance of all areas of responsibility, including supplier and subcontractor performance across the supply base
  • In partnership with Supply Chain Engineering and Manufacturing, continuously improve design, manufacturability, test, and inspection information to assure improved performance of the products produced by the supply base and their integration into the division's deliverable goods and services
  • Support product development reviews within the supply base
  • Assist with quality audits, failure analysis and incident investigations, to address customer and business specific quality engineering and reliability related criteria in partnership with Supply Chain Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain Management
  • Partner with Supply Chain Management and Supply Chain Engineering to develop advanced risk management tools and reporting mechanisms
  • Assist with annual operating plans and business strategies for the Supplier Quality Assurance and Receiving Inspection teams
  • Interface with customer and program representatives throughout the program life cycle in supplier quality assurance related activities and tasks
  • Execute continuous improvement activities related to the Supplier Quality Assurance team as assigned by Leadership
  • Perform source inspection and direct customer shipments from the suppliers and subcontractors
  • Mentor and train new Supplier Quality Engineers

Required Qualifications (one of the following):

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering related discipline (e.g. Electrical, Mathematics, Systems, etc.)ย and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.ย 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • 8 years' experience in any of the following positions in a Defense or Aerospace company: Quality Engineer, Quality Assurance, Process Engineer
  • 8 years' experience with supply chain management / supplier management processes, tools, and techniques
  • 4 years' experience with Failure Mode Effects Analysis is desired (e.g. DFMEA, PFMEA)
  • 8 years' experience with continuous improvement related analysis tools and techniques (e.g. design for six sigma, root cause analysis, statistical process control, lean manufacturing techniques, Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS))
  • 8 years' hands on experience with and knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management System and AS9102 First Article requirementsย 
  • Background in counterfeit parts prevention and requirements found in SAE AS5553 and AS6171
  • Background in power supply manufacturing or quality in an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Graduate degree in an Engineering discipline and/or an MBA
  • Professional certification is desired (e.g. APICS, PMP, CMP, Quality Engineering, Six Sigma)
  • AS9100 Lead auditor experience
  • Excellent communication and teambuilding skills and an ability to manage relationships with internal and external customers, fostering a relationship of trust and mutual respect
