Job Summary: A Special Needs Assistant, will work closely with Special Education Teachers and other professionals to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment. Your role will involve providing individualized assistance and guidance to students, helping them access the curriculum and develop essential life skills.

• Collaborate with Special Education Teachers to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and modify teaching materials as needed.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities in various academic subjects and activities.
• Assist students in completing class assignments, homework, and assessments.
• Monitor and document student progress and behavior, reporting.
• Assist students with personal care tasks, mobility, and other activities of daily living, as necessary.
• Support students in developing independence and self-advocacy skills.
• Implement positive behavior support strategies to address and manage challenging behaviors.
• Help create and maintain a safe and organized classroom environment.

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus).
• Knowledge of various disabilities, special education strategies, and assistive technologies.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students with diverse needs.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and therapists.
• Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing circumstances.
• Understanding of and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
• Physical ability to assist with personal care tasks and mobility support, as required.
• CPR and first aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Completion of background checks and clearance required by school or district policies.
