Recreation Specialist Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Recreation Specialist to help coordinate and run community classes and special events. In this role, you will collaborate with the recreation director to plan activities, including holiday events, senior activities, and youth sports and after school programs. On a daily basis, you will set up and supervise classes and activities, coordinate the schedules of part-time staff and volunteers, monitor inventory of supplies and order more when necessary, and complete administrative paperwork. We prefer candidates who have at least three years of experience working with recreation programs.

  • Coordinate work schedule of part-time staff and volunteers
  • Help plan community courses and special events
  • Supervise classes and monitor youth participation
  • Track supplies and order more inventory when necessary
  • Document participation for each activity and input data into the municipal database

Recreation Specialist Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • 3+ years of experience with a recreational program (preferred)
  • Understanding of youth and senior sports and programs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Flexible schedule
