How to be a good doula?

A good doula is available for their clients whenever they are needed, so responding to late-night calls or texts and working at odd hours is common in this job. Their goal is to do everything they can to help women and families feel supported throughout the pregnancy and childbirth experience. A good doula works well under pressure, is supportive and friendly, and has amazing interpersonal skills. Although not a requirement, it’s helpful for doulas to be mothers themselves because with first-hand experience often comes irreplaceable insight and advice.
