Job description

Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US LLC is looking for a Distribution Center Manager in Philadelphia, PA.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Distribution Center Manager at Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US LLC (METUS) is responsible for the organizational health of the operation and performance of the facility. Operationally, he/she must be able to successfully care for the safe and accurate receipt, storage, inventory control, order fulfillment, and delivery of products to our customers. The manager must ensure safety of all individuals that are present on the warehouse grounds. The manager must be able to communicate effectively with everyone within his/her organization verbally and in writing. This includes but is not limited to salaried and hourly staff, corporate headquarters personnel, business development staff, vendors, and customers.
Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the distribution center, inclusive of inbound operations, outbound operations, returns, warehouse office administration, cycle counting, and overall inventory control
  • Ensure the distribution center is properly staffed to accomplish business goals, working with HR, and management to accommodate required operating levels
  • Promote and ensure a safe working environment for all associates through demonstrating safety and health leadership as a core value and ensuring compliance with all OSHA, local, state, and federal requirements
  • Recruit, select, onboard, train, and develop all staff members through communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Monitor employee work performance relative to expectations and maintain workflow through the facility.
  • Manage 5 direct staff and 65+ employees: interviewing, onboarding, training, coaching, development, employee disciplinary actions, timecards, reviews, and etc.
  • Perform duties using a safety-conscious attitude, improving safety knowledge of all employees.
  • Motivate by example - partner with warehouse employees to perform daily activities, and continuously improve performance. Teamwork is key!
  • Communicate clear expectations to production personnel, keep them informed of matters pertaining to their job, and develop personnel growth opportunities.
  • Exercise disciplined management of the P&L / budget for the distribution center, monitoring and managing all shipments and expenses that impact P&L performance
  • Ensure that customers service expectations are met, including achieving all service level metrics and quality performance goals
  • Communicate and interact with customers and various internal departments (i.e. IT, HR, Accounting, etc.) in order to resolve issues, capitalize on opportunities, and improve business and service performance
  • Model the METUS way by leading from the front, driving a continuous improvement mindset, and championing daily MDI, problem solving, countermeasures, and periodic kaizen improvement; these improvements will come from analyzing process work flow, manpower and space requirements, and equipment layout, and then leading appropriate improvement activities
  • Collaboratively work with critical supply chain peers at other distribution facilities and in the corporate office to drive best practice sharing
  • Perform other job functions as assigned.

Experience / Education:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of applicable warehousing/distribution/logistics experience
  • 3+ years of management experience required
  • 3+ years of experience in a large, high volume DC facility strongly preferred
  • WMS experience required; SAP EWM preferred
  • Experience in a LEAN / continuous improvement environment
  • Team player demonstrating METUS core values including a desire to win together, deliver excellence, drive sustainability, focus on execution and learn continuously.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $111,200 and $152,900 per year, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including target bonus plans and discretionary awards. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan, as well as participate in Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employees eligible dependents. Employees will also receive 80 hours of vacation per year, 56 hours of paid sick leave annually, and 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year, depending on hire date. Employees may also take up to 12 weeks of paid or unpaid [parental/disability/emergency/etc.] leave, if eligible.
