Job description

Job Title: Distribution Center Manager
Location: Ruther Glen, VA
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
We are seeking an experienced Distribution Center Manager with a proven track record in managing large-scale warehouse and distribution operations within the food and beverage industry. The ideal candidate will bring over 5 years of progressive supply chain and logistics experience, including multi-state transportation, cold/dry chain management, ERP/WMS implementation, and team leadership. This role requires strategic thinking, operational excellence, and the ability to drive cost efficiency while ensuring compliance with food safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage day-to-day operations of a distribution center, including inbound/outbound logistics, cross-dock operations, cold and dry storage, and inventory management.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of 50–150+ employees, including warehouse staff, supervisors, and support personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, OSHA standards, and corporate policies, implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and manage relationships with carriers, negotiate freight contracts (LTL and full-trailer), and optimize transportation costs.
  • Oversee ERP/WMS systems (e.g., Acumatica, Savant, SAP, Manhattan) to improve order flow, reporting, and inventory accuracy.
  • Implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and meet service level agreements for top-tier food & beverage clients.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including purchasing, customer service, and quality assurance to align operations with corporate objectives.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop action plans to meet or exceed operational goals.
  • Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across all warehouse functions.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in warehouse or distribution center management, preferably within the food and beverage industry.
  • Demonstrated success managing multi-state logistics and distribution operations.
  • Expertise in freight negotiation, cross-dock operations, and perishable/dry goods handling.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing large teams and fostering employee development.
  • Proficient in ERP/WMS systems such as Acumatica, Savant, EFI Radius, SAP, Manhattan.
  • Experience implementing safety programs, food safety compliance, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
