Job description

Network Engineer

Apex Systems has a Network Engineer role that will focus on the delivery of network connectivity for assigned business-aligned squads, including firewall, proxy and load balancer connectivity. This role will collaborate with Network Engineering, Solutions Engineering and Application Development.

Principle Responsibilities
  • Facilitates network design and delivery in coordination with Solutions Engineering, Platform Network Engineering and other teams.
  • Contributes to and supports the corporate adoption of Agile project management
  • Resolves issues in a timely manner. Demonstrates an appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Provides support to Network Delivery teams with the implementation of network designs; manage self and (as required) others’ delivery of work against budget and timeline requirements.
  • Follows the processes and methodologies for Incident, Project and Change Management.
  • Facilitates the transition of new solution or technologies to operations, providing subject matter expertise in an educational and supportive manner
  • Contributes to continual service improvement, looking for process improvement and automation opportunities
  • Supports other engineers as needed with training, issue resolution and workload overflow
  • Ensures application network design elements and key information is fully documented
  • Ensures network connectivity is compliant against standards and best practices
Knowledge/Skills
  • Expert skills, knowledge & troubleshooting with Wide Area Networking, routing and routed protocols, and network services such as WAN optimization, load balancing, and network security.
  • Knowledge of and skills with data center and campus Local Area Networking core technologies.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience (7+ years) with one or more data center network enablement technologies, i.e., IP address management; web proxy; firewalls; load balancer
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile methodology and delivery of infrastructure services
  • Proven design, programming, and debugging skills
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, high demand environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Flexible working hours to accommodate critical activity essential
  • Team player willing to both give and receive constructive feedback from the team and other groups as needed
  • Demonstrates efficient time Management and multi-tasking capabilities
