Job Description

 

position title:

Quality Assurance Technician ( food quality)

temp-to-hire for 3rd shift

12 hour

night shift in the future

report to:

Quality Assurance Manager

Primary function:

Perform all necessary quality assurance analysis and tests assigned by Quality Assurance Manager in a safe, effective manner, while ensuring quality and food safety standards are being met.

areas of responsibility:

  1. Responsible for reporting any food safety or quality issues to supervisor as well as the following specific duties involving food safety and quality.

2. Perform chemical, physical and sensory tests on all raw and finished products using approved methods to generate accurate data.

  1. Testing to include but not limited to the following: weight checks, moisture analyzing, documenting COAs, retain samples, customer cuttings, defect analysis, counts, and stencil evaluation including: label, date code, product code, description, & UPC code.
  2. Record all information in an orderly fashion and report all deviations from standard to the Quality Assurance Manager.
  3. Follow Quality Assurance procedures as described by Quality Assurance Manager.
  4. Carry out any corrections prescribed by Quality Assurance Manager.

education:

Minimum - Associated Degree in Food Science or related field and/or equivalent experience in a QC Lab setting.

experience:

 

knowledge, skills, abilities:

- Accepts & is able to handle unanticipated work and problems

- Sound algebra

- Possess basic food processing knowledge, including familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices

- Be accurate, precise and attentive to detail

- Good communication (verbally and written), problem solving and organizational skills

- Computer data entry skills

- Bilingual skills a plus

 

physical demands:

Standing and Walking 100%, Use of both hands 100%.

working environment:

Factory setting requiring the use of PPE.

Will work with hazardous chemicals and will be trained on safe handling practices.

In the event of an absence, this operator position will be covered from the pool of trained back up operators or by QA Manager.
