PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful applicant will join ATR's Engineering Services Division, working as a FPGA engineer at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division, Indian Head, MD.  You'll have an opportunity to work on world-class military programs that support the US Navy's Warfare technology including development and testing of military electronic warfare jamming systems.  In addition, the applicant will work as part of a research, design, test, and evaluation team, and provide logistical support for all program phases including:

  • FPGA design and development including logic development, simulation, synthesis, testing, and timing closure using VHDL and associated modeling tools
  • Design and implement system-on-chip solutions that use embedded ARM processors such as Zynq Ultrascale DDR memories, fast serial interfaces such as JESD-204B, 1G/10G Ethernet interfaces
  • Develop FPGA based systems particularly using Xilinx Series 7 FPGAs (Virtex and Zynq Ultrascale)
  • Provide digital board design including high speed signal layout as required
  • Provide technical documentation including requirements test reporting, timing diagrams, block diagrams and detailed descriptions.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Bachelor degree of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of FPGA based development is required
  • Strong background and experiences with Xilinx, Linux, Next Generation SDR, and JAVA Tools
  • Experience with least one scripted language (Python or MATLAB).

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of RF theory, FPGA based signal processing and other standard IP cores
  • Knowledge of JTAG and Integrated Logic Analyzer for in system debug
  • Knowledge of Bash and Java
  • Familiar with abstract level research requirements, architect, and implement in an FPGA.
  • Familiar with C/C++ software development, IDE development tools
  • Familiar with signal generators, oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers
  • Familiar with Software Defined Radios (SDR) and GNU Radio
  • Familiar with high speed data transit through FPGA
  • Familiar with embedded Linux platforms
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation. Current successful background investigation completion is a plus.
