What Is a Weekend Sales Representative and How to Become One

Weekend Sales Representative

What Does a Weekend Sales Representative Do?

As a weekend sales representative, you work part-time to sell products or services to customers over the weekend. Most weekend sales representative jobs are done Saturday-Sunday, but some companies also include Friday in the shift schedule as part of a three-day weekend for the company. In this role, you may help stock merchandise at a retail store, use the phone to call potential customers, travel throughout an assigned area to meet people at their houses, or provide customer service and help answer any questions customers have. This is a part-time job that offers fewer than 40 hours per week, but you may have longer shifts to compensate.

How to Become a Weekend Sales Representative

The primary qualifications for becoming a weekend sales representative are a high school diploma and some retail sales experience. Weekend sales jobs may require some college education or additional training—for example, if you sell medical devices, your employer may ask you to take a class on medical terminology to ensure you understand questions that customers could ask about the products. This rarely goes as far as requiring a degree, though some people take this job to earn money while still in school. Fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of a weekend sales representative requires communication skills, enthusiasm, the ability to adjust your schedule as necessary on the weekend, and in some cases the ability to stand and move for extended periods.
