Other Conditions: Lecturer applicant pool for Academic Year 2026 - 2027. Positions are part-time, temporary, non-tenure, and contingent upon course offerings, sufficient student enrollment, position clearance and availability of funding. Must be available to teach courses during the day, evening, weekend, and/or via distance learning, as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses in the Computer Science curriculum. Courses that may be covered by a Computer Science (CS) lecturer are described in the UH-Hilo catalog:
- Prepare course schedules, syllabi, and reports related to teaching and student progress.
- Maintain a minimum of one on-campus/in-person office hour per week for each course taught.
- Work under the supervision of the Computer Science Chairperson.
- Commitment to principles of higher education and philosophy are essential.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science or in a closely related area to the course(s) taught.
Desirable Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in the appropriate subject area (i.e. Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence,
Computer Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Computer and Information Sciences, Data Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Management of Information Systems). - Experience teaching Computer Science courses at the University or Community College level.
- Demonstrated ability to work with effectively with University students.
- Ability to work with diverse student populations.
