Job Title: Instructor- Hard Skills

Location: New York, New York

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Type: Full Time

Position Summary:

The Intructor for hard skills will be responsible for coordinating training functions, developing curricula, and delivering training to Pathways to Prosperity employees and participants; delivering Power of Possible training, and leading job club activities.

Responsible for facilitating life skills and work readiness training. Hard-skills Facilitator will have excellent facilitating skills and grasp of subject matter, as well as the ability to be dynamic, thoroughly engaging participants. This position is extremely result oriented.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Able to and/or licensed to teach hard skills classes like osha/building maintenance/construction, etc.
  • Develops life skills and work readiness training curriculum.
  • Is punctual and dependable in making sessions and preparing for them in advance.
  • Facilitates life skills and work readiness groups and philosophy.
  • Consults with vocational evaluation and employment services staff regarding curriculum and training needs.
  • Plans and develops materials needed for each class using textbooks, handouts, workbooks, web-based resources.
  • Gives assignments to job seekers and tracks performance and progress with position of interest and critical competency form completion.
  • Completes weekly reports as specified.
  • Maintains a clear written calendar of weekly classes as well as a monthly rotational schedule.
  • Writes weekly case notes for each job seeker, highlighting topics reviewed, participation, and progress towards job readiness, to be completed Fridays COB.
  • Attends weekly evaluation and training team meetings and provides feedback to Job Developers pertaining to job seeker employment.
  • Organizes hiring fairs and presentations from hiring managers for job seekers on a quarterly basis at minimum.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in adult education, education, human relations, psychology, social work or related field.
  • Valid Certification in hard skills track and ability to train for certification
  • Must possess excellent facilitating skills.
  • Sets expectations and get results.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel PPT.
  • Knowledge of or experience in job development, human resources, or employer relations.
  • Experience in workforce development.
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation field.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
