Job description

Nativity Catholic School is seeking a dynamic, faith-filled Foreign Language Teacher to lead our 7th and 8th-grade students. This role focuses on preparing middle schoolers for high school language programs by developing their linguistic proficiency and cultural awareness.
This is a part-time position with the unique opportunity to increase hours by serving as a preferred substitute teacher on campus when not scheduled for language instruction.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Targeted Instruction: Deliver a rigorous 7th and 8th-grade curriculum focusing on grammar, vocabulary, conversation, and cultural literacy.
  • Bridge to High School: Prepare students for Level 1 or Level 2 high school placement exams.
  • Flexible Support: Optionally serve as a substitute teacher for other subject areas to support school operations and increase weekly hours.
  • Faith Leadership: Integrate Catholic identity into the classroom through prayer and the study of global Catholic traditions.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a professional and engaging environment suitable for the middle school developmental stage.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, World Languages, or a related field (required).
  • Certification: Florida Teaching Certificate (or eligibility) in the target language.
  • Fluency: High level of proficiency in both the target language and English.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to a middle school schedule and assist with school-wide needs.

Employment Requirements
  • Clearance: Successful completion of a Level II background screening (FDLE Fingerprinting).
  • Safe Environment: Completion of the Diocese of St. Petersburg Safe Environment Training.
