Our client is looking for a Field Controls Technician to join their team. Our client is growing fast globally and looking for top talent to join their team. They are a leading global supplier of Abrasive Blasting and Painting Facilities to a range of different industries.
The Field Controls Technician will be responsible for supporting installation, commissioning, and controls integration of automated systems. This role blends hands-on field work with advanced troubleshooting and PLC programming.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Detailed review of new system installations to confirm prints and functionality as designed
- Conduct startup and commissioning of new installations
- Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLC systems including Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, and Schneider Electric
- Generate installation and commissioning reports
- Support subcontractors to ensure installation quality meets design intent
- Conduct training for operations and maintenance teams
- Provide remote and on-site technical support to customers
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and control system issues during startup
- Review and modify PLC programs to support commissioning and troubleshooting activities
- Support HMI setup, I/O validation, and system communications
- Verify delivered components and ensure all parts are available for installation
- Communicate with customers throughout installation for scope, updates, and issue resolution
- Gather feedback from subcontractors to improve installation processes
- Work with PMs and PEs to de-risk field issues during installation
- Provide daily updates on project status, punch list items, and risks
- Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies during installation and commissioning · Implement quality control measures to ensure accurate and complete installations
- Other tasks and duties based upon business needs
Requirements/Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years of experience in industrial controls, automation, or field service
- Ability to make and modify existing PLC programs
- Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting experience with Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, and Schneider Electric
- Experience diagnosing complex and intermittent system failures
- Strong understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
- Experience commissioning and troubleshooting industrial equipment
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and layouts
- Ability to coordinate multiple teams during installation phases
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneDrive/SharePoint
