Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Product Developer is to develop technical packages that detail the process of building a garment that will be followed with domestic and import partners for Stanfield’s brand. The Product Developer demonstrates working knowledge of the processes of garment construction, measurement and sewing terminology.
The incumbent will be a key support person to the Technical Services Manager Department during development and production stages to ensure quality and design remain true to Stanfield’s legacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create detailed garment technical specification packs by outlining construction processes, providing thread requirements, packaging details, and measurements
- Measure, inspect and report on all prototype, pre-production & top samples for all Stanfield’s, import and co-manufacturer builds
- Responsible for testing follow-up and approval process pertaining to all garments and fabrics
- Review UPC layouts/ scanning, packaging info, folding methods
Quality Management, Collaboration and Administration:
- Utilize ABS (software) to source information and provide updates on materials required ie: thread colours, pack sizes, box dimensions, general information
- Correspond with import manufacturers on sample reporting, providing feedback on sample fitting, quality of construction
- Learn and execute buyer sample submission protocols
- Maintain style spreadsheet and sample shipment logs
- Follows standard operating procedures on all requests to meet or exceed quality standards.
- Identifies opportunities to improve through the Quality Management System.
- Completes and maintains all documentation required in the Product Development Process.
- Provides operations with pertinent details on construction, offering value add recommendations on pattern engineering.
Education:
- Fashion Design Bachelor Degree/Diploma or equivalent workplace experience
Skills and Experience:
- One to three years industry experience preferably within a manufacturing setting.
- Familiar with Textile and Garment Manufacturing Processes.
- Skilled in all aspects of Garment Measuring, Construction.
- Strong attention to detail – proven quality workmanship.
- Proven ability to identify issues, solve problems and work independently or with a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Excel and Adobe Illustrator are essential.
- Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Ability to multi-task, work within a fast-paced environment, tight timelines and prioritize conflicting demands.

Working Conditions:
- Travel Requirements: No frequent or regular travel as part of the job – Potential travel to Montreal/Toronto bi-annually
- Physical Environment: Little to no exposure to disagreeable elements. Office and Plant environments
- Physical Demand: Almost all activities are of low to medium physical intensity.
- Mental Effort: Moderate intensity
