JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our Neuromodulation business is an area of expertise for Abbott. This business includes implantable devices compatible with mobile technology to help people who suffer from chronic pain and movement disorders. Our Solutions include Proclaim (TM) XR SCS System, the #1 Spinal cord stimulator on the market, Proclaim (TM) DRG Neurostimulator, the only FDA approved DRG therapy and a market leader in radiofrequency ablation therapy, Abbott RFA. These non-opioid therapies allow us to provide interventional pain therapy to patients throughout the pain continuum. Our Infinity™ deep brain stimulation technology helps people manage Parkinson's disease and essential tremor, steering away from side effects.

Our location in Austin, TX, currently has an opportunity for a Medical Science Advisor position.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Provide scientific and medical leadership, by presenting scientific, clinical and educational materials to KOLs and academic centers, and professional organizations to gain awareness, acceptance, and advocacy of products and credible relationships with thought leaders and external experts of strategic importance to NM.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with Global Tier 1 KOLs and academic centers that are of commercial and research relevance, discuss investigator initiated studies (ISS) and relevance toNM
  • Act as a resource with information, ideas and recommendations to R&D, the commercial team to monitor reactions related to products within the scientific and medical NMcommunity
  • Serve as a point of contact within the medical and scientific affairs team for thought leaders and external experts within an assigned geographic area in order to satisfy their needs for scientific knowledge in a therapeutic area and, when requested, relevant NM products, to support their safe, effective and appropriate use.
  • Provide clinical and product training with presentations on scientific matters to health care providers, individually or in groups (meetings, clinical sessions, etc.), where requested, with the focus on Tier 1 and 2 thought leaders at academic centers, in clinical practice and NM congresses.
  • Maintain an ongoing list of selected appropriately qualified thought leaders, NMwould wish to engage in collaborative efforts - such as educational and advisory roles (Advisory Boards, Congresses, Symposia, Principal Investigators for clinical studies etc.) while ensuring a high level of scientific ,educational integrity in these collaborative efforts.
  • Attend relevant scientific NM meetings and conferences. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop summaries of key data and other scientifically relevant information from the congresses to inform NM of strategic priorities and initiatives from a clinical and scientific perspective. Staff the Medical Affairs area of the exhibit booth at national NM scientific meetings and congresses, answer off label questions re the use of NM products from a clinical and scientific perspective, respond to questions re NM clinical scientific data, ISS queries, data interpretation for the NM business
  • Drive Publications and presentations of products based on data and materials collected from KOLs
  • Ensure that all activities and interactions are conducted with due regard to all applicable local and national laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, company policies and accepted standards of best practice.
  • Coordinate and execute regional education and scientific symposia
  • Conduct and assist with medical content review and professional communication materials and key advocacy initiatives with KOls and professional organizations in the NM arena.


SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven Communication and Presentation Skills
  • Effective presentation skills including from podium at scientific meetings.
  • Ability to interpret clinical data and scientific information to accurately and effectively present same to HCP/Customers.
  • Effective written communication skills necessary to generate scientific publications and other scientific and disease state materials.
  • Has a commitment to build and maintain effective communication across cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of, and respect for, different viewpoints from the perspective of both internal and external customers and is able to manage and resolve conflict.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

Required
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 5 years of experience


Preferred
  • Master's Degree or higher in Neuroscience or related field
  • Neuromodulation experience
