Job Summary

The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) functions in a scrub role for operative and other invasive procedures including establishing and maintaining a sterile field, specimen handling, counts, medications/solutions, implants and instrument processing and may assist with circulating duties, as well as, participate in activities related to standards and quality improvement for the specialty and the department.


Required Qualifications

CST I: 

- Require active national Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.

 -Completion of a Surgical Technician program

 -Ability to sit for certification exam

CST II

- Require a minimum of one (1) year of Certified Surgical Technologist experience or successful completion of SMH Operating Room CST internship program.
- Require proficiency in one (1) or more specialty area/service lines.


Required License and Certs

BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR
CST: Certified Surg Technologist
