Job description
- Ability to supervise and perform light electrical work as needed
- Ability to supervise and perform plumbing repairs and/or maintenance as needed
- Performing surface preparation and paint application on building structures and signage as needed.
- Perform lawn care including mowing, edging, weed removal, weed trimming, hedge trimming, trash pick-up, as needed
- Setting up tables, chairs, and move furniture and other items as needed including occasional off-site events
- Ability to perform carpentry repairs and perform HVAC repairs
- Perform maintenance on grounds equipment
- Operate machinery, riding mowers, golf carts and tractors
- Provide school-wide customer service while maintaining a positive attitude
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
- Experience in facilities maintenance or related position required
- Plumbing, HVAC, or electrical experience and/or certification required
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- Experience using power tools safely
- Experience climbing and using ladders safely
- Experience using small engine tools, lawn tractors, general duty tractors safely
- Experience reading and interpreting documents such as daily schedules, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Experience in actively circulate throughout the diverse campus environment
- Understanding to perform assigned duties safely in proximity to students and staff
- Ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment
- A high degree of professionalism, collegiality, and personal conduct both in and outside of school
- Enthusiasm and commitment to the vision and mission of the school
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Works primarily in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain
- Regularly required to stand, walk, turns, bend, use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear
- Frequently required to climb ladders up to 12', balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl• Regularly uses close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- May stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to visually and audibly locate students and staff in the proximity of maintenance work being performed
- Occasional duties that may require properly protected interaction with moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Occasional exposure to high, precarious places; risk of electrical shock; and vibration
- Exposure to loud noise
- Regularly lift, carry and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift, carry and/or move up to 100 pounds with approved equipment
