Job description

Malman Law is seeking an Associate Attorney to support case development, client advocacy, and litigation support across assigned matters. This role is responsible for managing an active caseload under the supervision of senior attorneys and partners while developing litigation skills and contributing to successful case outcomes.

Associate Attorneys play a critical role in supporting client communication, drafting legal documents, and assisting with case strategy while building the foundation for long-term professional growth within the firm.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Case Management & Litigation Support

• Manage assigned caseload from intake through resolution, depending on team assignment.

• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and legal correspondence.

• Assist with depositions, mediations, and settlement negotiations.

• Conduct legal research and case evaluations.

• Support trial preparation and litigation strategy development.

Client Advocacy & Communication

• Maintain consistent and professional client communication.

• Provide case updates and assist with settlement recommendations.

• Collaborate with medical providers, investigators, and expert vendors.

• Support client intake and case development processes when needed.

Team Collaboration & Professional Development

• Work closely with partners, senior attorneys, paralegals, and case managers.

• Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and internal trainings.

• Develop litigation and negotiation skills through mentorship and case exposure.

• Support firm initiatives and practice group development efforts.

Professional Standards & Compliance

• Maintain compliance with Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct.

• Maintain accurate and timely case documentation within firm systems.

• Meet performance metrics and professional expectations established by leadership.

• Maintain CLE requirements and remain current with legal developments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

• Active license to practice law in Illinois and in good standing.

• 3-5 years of litigation or personal injury experience.

• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

• Ability to manage deadlines and multiple case priorities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Plaintiff-side personal injury or civil litigation experience.

• Deposition or court appearance experience.

• Experience working within case management software platforms.

• Interest in trial preparation and litigation advocacy development.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Malman Law offers a competitive compensation structure commensurate with experience and performance. Compensation may include base salary, performance-based bonuses, and referral incentives.

• Starting salary minimum, $110,000
