Job description

Security Engineer (Azure Cloud Security)
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Security Engineer to help design, deploy, and mature cloud security capabilities across a multi-tenant Azure environment. This is an engineering-focused role responsible for building, tuning, and advancing next-generation security solutions - not an alert monitoring or triage position.
The environment consists of multiple Azure tenants with varying subscription structures and maturity levels, including cloud-native workloads, containers, Azure SQL databases, Azure DevOps, and PaaS components. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating across environments with differing levels of security complexity and governance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and enhance Azure cloud security posture across multiple tenants.
  • Implement and mature zero-trust security models and identity security controls.
  • Secure Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) workloads and cloud-native architectures.
  • Deploy, configure, upgrade, tune, and troubleshoot advanced security platforms.
  • Engineer and optimize log ingestion pipelines and next-generation SIEM integrations.
  • Support containerized workloads and modern application architectures.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with cloud engineering, AppSec, and infrastructure teams.
  • Provide occasional after-hours support as part of a 24/7 security ecosystem.
Required Qualifications (Top 3 Must-Haves)
  1. Deep Azure Cloud Security expertise, including:
    • Zero Trust architecture
    • PaaS security
    • Multi-tenant Azure environments
  2. Hands-on engineering experience with CrowdStrike Falcon and CrowdStrike LogScale
    • Deployment, configuration, tuning, ingestion pipelines, analytics
    • Not limited to alert response
  3. Hands-on experience deploying and supporting Zscaler or Cato
    • Installation, upgrades, tuning, troubleshooting
    • Direct operational ownership (not siloed or alert-only exposure)
Technical Environment & Tools
  • Azure (multi-tenant architecture)
  • Azure SQL Database
  • Azure DevOps
  • Cloud-native workloads
  • Containers
  • PaaS components
  • CrowdStrike Falcon
  • CrowdStrike LogScale (Next-Gen SIEM)
  • Zscaler or Cato
  • AI-driven security tooling
  • Broader ecosystem exposure to AppSec and cloud edge/security platforms
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Passionate about cloud security and continuous learning.
  • Engineering mindset with strong cloud + security depth.
  • Comfortable in hands-on build-and-deploy environments.
  • Experience deploying and engineering security solutions end-to-end.
  • Strong communicator who can clearly articulate technical concepts.
  • Organized, proactive, and capable of thriving in a fast-moving environment.
  • Eager to pursue advanced certifications and ongoing technical development.
Work Model & Schedule
  • Hybrid work model preferred (2 days onsite; potential increase to 3 days in future)
  • Remote considered for exceptional candidates
  • Standard hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Security is a 24/7 function; occasional after-hours review/support expected
  • No relocation assistance available
Compensation
  • Base Salary: $185,000
  • Discretionary bonus
  • Certification and advanced training support available (including funding for advanced security certifications)

Frequently asked questions

Q: What skills or qualities help someone succeed as a Security Engineer?

A: To succeed as a Security Engineer, key technical skills include proficiency in security frameworks and protocols (e.g., OWASP, NIST), programming languages (e.g., Python, C++), and security tools (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection systems). Additionally, strong soft skills such as effective communication, problem-solving, and analytical thinking are crucial for collaborating with cross-functional teams, identifying vulnerabilities, and implementing security solutions. These technical and soft skills enable Security Engineers to design and implement robust security measures, mitigate risks, and drive business growth by protecting sensitive data and systems.

Q: What is the career path for a Security Engineer?

A: A Security Engineer's career path typically begins with entry-level roles such as Security Analyst or Junior Security Engineer, where they develop foundational skills in threat analysis, vulnerability assessment, and security tool implementation. As they gain experience, they progress to mid-level roles like Security Engineer or Senior Security Analyst, where they take on more complex projects, lead teams, and develop expertise in areas like cloud security, compliance, and incident response. Senior Security Engineers or Security Architects often hold leadership positions, overseeing security strategy, architecture, and implementation, and may also pursue certifications like CISSP or CISM to further advance their careers.
