Our North Houston Plant is currently seeking a Logistics Manager

Location: 19103 Gundle Rd. Houston, TX 77073

Shift work: M-F, 8 AM – 5 PM

Full Time- Direct Hire position

Position Overview

Ensure all warehouse functions are carried out accurately, efficiently, and profitably, including Shipping, Receiving, and Inventory Control. Meet the customer's service level expectations and manage the flow of inventory to support production and shipping needs. Minimize errors in operations. Plan and manage all aspects of organizational logistics and supply chain functions in support of production operations. Work closely with Production Manager and Planner to ensure proper inventory levels to support order fulfillment and financial objectives. Interact with personnel inside the facility in customer service, sales, inventory management, and financial operations to meet objectives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handles general inquiries and resolves shipping, receiving, inventory control, and packaging issues.
  • Coordinates with Logistics groups and other departments to facilitate efficient logistics operations.
  • Determines staffing requirements, conducts performance reviews, and monitors attendance to ensure functional requirements are met and attendance policy is followed. Prepare and conduct performances of associates.
  • Must be able to negotiate shipping rates, book trucks, load trucks, print BOLs, and keep appropriate records detailing order transactions (shipment planner, Trello, etc...).
  • Load planning/order management to best suit customer needs maintaining optimum loading efficiency.
  • Coordinate and execute each picking ticket, load ability, and freight cost coverage received from sales.
  • Coordinates safety training and ensures a safe environment is maintained.
  • Receiving and unloading of raw material deliveries.
  • Document Creation for Canada and Mexico Shipments (BOL, NAFTA, Commercial Invoice and Packing List in the new system
  • Completes necessary activity reports for management and departmental metrics.
  • Responsible for warehouse inventory control, accuracy, and cycle count maintenance. Lead physical inventories.
  • Responsible for maintaining budgeted guidelines for all areas of warehouse operations.
  • Establish warehouse policies and safety procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Recognition of the importance of continually improving the accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of warehouse processes.
  • Knowledge of power industrial trucks is a must. Arrange for proper maintenance as required.
  • Supervise the rail spur and resin management team.
  • Maintain and train Logistics Assistants.
  • Fill in for transportation manager, as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise full-time and temporary labor as required in the busy season


QUALIFICATIONS:

3-5 years of shipping, inventory control, and supervisor experience. Must have good people skills.

Knowledge of trucking regulations and driver hours of service regulations.

Knowledge of 6S

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma, proficient in Excel, Word, and good general computer skills.

Transportation Management System (TMS) experience, Mercury Gate preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Bi-lingual English and Spanish would be a plus but not required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Able to perform general calculations and percentages.

Strong analysis skills.

REASONING ABILITY:

Problem-solving ability, root cause analysis of issues.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

Certified Forklift driver

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

To be able to lift 50 lbs.

Able to climb up to 90 feet high and work in an elevated environment.

Able to climb on and off stationary work areas 3 – 4 feet high.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Plant Environment with a team-oriented approach. Work with other areas such as production or maintenance if needed and time permits.
