Microbiology Lab Supervisor

Job Description Perform food microbiological procedures and report results in support of food safety, shelf-life and general manufacturing corporate /regulatory mandated programs for RTC and RTE operations. Contribute to investigative sampling and training in RTC facilities Review third party or vendor academic microbiological research papers and interpret technical data for procedural significance to new processes. Research of written justifications and protocols to research alternative food micro procedures, either in-house or through a private laboratory Maintain accurate and timely records of results Maintain accreditation/recognition programs Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance Manuel, SOP’s, and control measures specified to align with ISO 17025 guidelines Maintain compliance with third party proficiency programs to verify laboratory accuracy to Foster Farms customers and USDA Perform internal audits of processes and ensure accurate performance and interpretation of test results. Maintain function of laboratory equipment and update SAP based LIMS system Ensure technician competency on required tests and provide training as needed Supervise the hourly technician workforce to ensure that tests are ran accurately and meet necessary deadlines Coordinating lab coverage for submission 7 days per week Provide feedback for and administer laboratory personnel reviews Provide supervision and instruction to laboratory technicians and assist with trouble shooting.  Supervise training of new and current laboratory personnel in procedures and protocols. Schedule annual training from vendors Delegate and guide task completion related to Corporate Food Safety projects that require microbiological data. Oversee inventory and ordering of lab supplies Review material and labor cost of In-House testing.
