Quality Engineer - Aerospace - Heat Treating ($85-$110k)

SUMMARY
Analyzes manufacturing planning to determine compliance with customer required specifications and evaluates outside suppliers
to ensure that quality standards are in compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Conducts audits of SOP’s to ensure that all quality standards are fully documented.
• Develops reports used for analysis of required corrective action for circumstances where defect rates are excessive. Approves outside suppliers based on established criteria.
• Prepares Quality Assurance operation instructions, procedures, policies, guidelines and manuals.
• Implements calibration activities to obtain minimum variances.
• Meets established standards for productivity and quality. Confers with supervisor when problems arise, which impact expected level of performance.
• Responsible for supporting and ensuring compliance to ISO /AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
• Performs any task required to support customer requirements and company goals.
• Coordinates rework, customer returns, and nonconforming product processing with other divisions and departments 
• Interprets engineering drawings, process specifications, blueprints, test procedures, or formulas to verify compliance with technical specifications and customer requirements.
• Utilizes on-line data systems and electronic media to verify customer data, specifications, work in progress status, and data entry.
• Works independently with minimal supervision. Prioritizes work in order to meet commitments and deadlines.
• Must understand risk assessment and how to apply risk assessment tools

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent and five years of Quality Engineering experience within the aerospace industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• CMM/Romer Arm Programming with PC DMIS software a bonus.
• Strong Root Cause and Corrective Action
• Ability to use and interpret aerospace drawings and specifications.
• Strong computer skills required.
• Ability to write routine reports, create charts, business correspondence and speak effectively with customers or employees of
• the organization.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of manufacturing processing, standard auditing procedures, and statistical process control.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to sit or stand for at least 8 hours a day.
• The employee is occasionally required to walk; stoop, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
