Job Summary:
This position is for an Autonomy Engineering Specialist working in a technical leadership role for Remote Control within Autonomy & Automation division.
The individual hired for this position will work as part of an engineering team to design, develop, integrate, and test robust, scalable features on embedded electronic control systems and vision system for use in remote control machine applications.
What You Will Do:
- Design, develop, Maintain Remote Control system for new/existing Caterpillar machine programs
- Provide technical leadership for Remote Control LOS and NLOS systems, ensuring consistency, quality, and readiness across machines and platforms.
- Support execution of the Remote Control product roadmap and NPI programs as a core technical subject matter expert.
- Lead system integration and validation for Remote Operator Station, LOS Consoles, and machine interfaces.
- Define engineering requirements for Remote Operator Station features and change requests.
- Own and maintain internal Remote Operator stations, including software and hardware deployments.
- Support risk management, functional safety, and regulatory compliance for new products and markets.
- Coordinate cross-functional engineering execution, including schedules, budgets, and readiness.
- Serve as a primary point of contact, providing clear status, timelines, and insights to stakeholders and Product Groups.

- Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
- Software Product Design/Architecture: Knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into the software product design.
- Cross-Team Integration: Understanding of the importance of inter-team collaboration in breaking down silos and achieving business results; ability to lead employees from various functions to communicate, coordinate work across divisions, and collaborate in solving problems as one team.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
Consideration for Top Candidates:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science; advanced degree preferred
- Proven experience in Product Development and Validation of heavy equipment (robotics or autonomous vehicles preferred)
- New Product Introduction (NPI) experience for complex machines or product features
- Strong technical background in complex hardware-software systems
- Experience in working with Linux based Software and Systems
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies
- Exposure to verification and validation of safety-critical software and systems
- Experience delivering programs to production
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project leadership skills
Additional Information:
- This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Mossville, IL or Clayton, NC Office

Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $208,770.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
