We are a journey of continuous growth - now looking for our next star - a passionate Manufacturing Controls Engineer. This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will work in Pompano Beach, FL.
As Manufacturing Controls Engineer of the Pompano Beach, FL team, you will serve in a critical role focused on optimizing and improving the performance, reliability, and automation of manufacturing and test equipment. This position enhances existing systems to drive greater efficiency, uptime, safety, and product quality, while also supporting the design and development of new equipment and controls solutions when required. By combining traditional equipment engineering with modern industrial controls, automation, and programming expertise, this role strengthens overall production capabilities across the organization.
General Responsibilities
  • Optimize and improve manufacturing equipment, systems, and processes to increase efficiency, throughput, and quality, while also supporting the design and development of new solutions as needed.
  • Lead feasibility studies, cost analyses, and proposals for new production technologies.
  • Support cross-functional integration with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D teams.
  • Implement preventive maintenance strategies and improve equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, and automation-related equipment issues.
  • Develop, program, and implement PLC and HMI screens from scratch.
  • Analyze and interpret wiring diagrams, control schematics, and system architectures.
  • Design or modify control panels, support panel selection, layout, and integration.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and controls systems using engineering fundamentals and multimeter diagnostics.
  • Support CANBus communication setup, data acquisition, machine communication, and test-stand control logic.
  • Develop automation sequences to improve production efficiency, reliability, and safety.
  • Identify automation opportunities for production, testing, quality assurance, and safety, drive implementation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven analysis and modern controls solutions.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate for this role will bring demonstrated success in a manufacturing environment. Additionally, they will have acquired the following qualifications and experiences:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of equipment engineering or automation engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on PLC programming experience.
  • Strong scripting/programming skills (Python, C, Java, JavaScript, C++ or similar).
  • Fluency in reading electrical wiring diagrams and understanding control system architecture.
  • Experience with manufacturing automation systems, process optimization, and equipment integration.
  • PLC knowledge and experience with Allen-Bradley, Carel, or Opto22 platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proven experience with electronics, analog, power, and digital circuit design.
  • Strong understanding of hardware/software interface issues and understanding of hardware system designs.
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations (UL, CSA, CE, and other regulatory requirements).
  • Familiar with QFD, Design and Process FMEAs.
  • Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) software. I.e., AutoCAD, SolidWorks.
