Job Description Summary
Dauch is seeking a Controls Engineer to join our team in Newton, North Carolina. This fully onsite role is critical in leading the design, testing, implementation, and maintenance of automation and control systems within the manufacturing facility. The position plays a key role in ensuring reliable operation of production equipment, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting plant productivity, safety, and quality objectives.
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. They bring a strong technical background in industrial automation, along with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset focused on reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement. They also have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with effective communication and teamwork abilities. Familiarity with AGVs, experience with vision systems and motion control, and knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies are preferred qualifications.

Job Description:
  • Evaluates control systems, products, components, and applications to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Assesses emerging manufacturing and control technologies, incorporating them into specifications where appropriate.
  • Validates control system functionality-including safety compliance-by developing and/or executing test procedures.
  • Prepares and reviews electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control drawings; collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers.
  • Ensures the accuracy and integrity of process and production data collection systems.
  • Provides technical support to manufacturing, process, and engineering teams by responding to inquiries and requests.
  • Maintains equipment performance through periodic audits, troubleshooting issues, coordinating repairs, and driving preventive maintenance and process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains project documentation using established methodologies, tools, and templates.
  • Supports supplier development activities and ensure on-time delivery of components and services.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related engineering field.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation or manufacturing controls engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with Siemens PLC programming and troubleshooting and Fanuc CNC Controls.
  • Familiarity with robotics (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, etc.).
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
