Now Hiring: Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Beaumont, TX (Shop & Field Positions Available)

(Heavy Equipment Technician | Diesel Mechanic – Construction Equipment | Caterpillar Equipment Mechanic | Field Service Heavy Equipment Repair)

Mustang Cat is actively hiring experienced Heavy Equipment Technicians to support shop and field service operations in Beaumont, Texas. Whether you’re working in the shop or from a field service truck, you’ll diagnose and repair Caterpillar construction equipment that powers infrastructure and job sites across Southeast Texas.

This is a hands-on role ideal for a career diesel mechanic who thrives in fast-paced environments and is ready to grow with a respected Caterpillar dealership.

What You’ll Do as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic:

As a Heavy Equipment Technician, you’ll inspect, diagnose, and repair Caterpillar diesel-powered machinery. From dozers and loaders to compactors and excavators, you’ll help restore machines to peak performance. Responsibilities include:

  • Diagnose and repair heavy and light construction equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance, part installation, and rebuilds
  • Troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems using Cat ET
  • Install and repair components such as transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, and fuel systems
  • Deliver field service support using a company-provided truck (for applicable roles)
  • Work independently or with mentorship in a structured shop environment

Requirements:

  • Must own proper tools to perform repairs
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and fuel systems
  • Working knowledge of transmissions, undercarriage, and track systems
  • Experience using Cat ET or other diagnostic software
  • Prior earthmoving equipment or military mechanic experience
  • Ability to work independently in a shop or field setting

Strongly Preferred Experience:

  • Welding and fabrication: MIG, arc welding, gouging, oxyacetylene torch
  • Experience with hydraulic pumps, valves, and motor systems
  • Dealer or manufacturer training in construction equipment systems
  • Certification or technical school background in diesel mechanics

Heavy Equipment Technician levels and compensation are determined by skill set, knowledge, and experience.
