CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services. CHI St. Alexius Health manages four CAHs in North Dakota - Elgin, Linton, and Wishek, as well as Mobridge Regional Medical Center in Mobridge, S.D. CHI St. Alexius Health offers a comprehensive line of inpatient and outpatient medical services, including: a Level II Trauma Center, primary and specialty physician clinics, home health and hospice services, durable medical equipment services, a fitness and human performance center and ancillary services throughout western and central North Dakota.

Responsibilities

Works under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator. The Clinic Float Nurse assists all areas as needed within Specialty Clinics based on staffing needs as they are determined by the Clinical Coordinator. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates individual patient care in the clinic according to policies and procedures. The clinic nurse assists physicians in clinical duties to ensure patients and families receive the highest quality care and knowledge promoting patient wellness. The clinic nurse maintains standards of the State Nurse Practice Act.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care for the patient/family which promotes optimal patient outcomes.
  • Meets the educational needs of patient/family/co-workers utilizing principals of teaching/learning
  • Delegates nursing care based on knowledge of staff qualifications/competency and patient care
  • Successfully completed the defined job specific competencies, including competencies for age specific, as appropriate. (List the job specific competencies validated during the year in the comment section; at least one must be age specific.)


Qualifications

Education: Nursing degree from an approved school of nursing.

Licensure: Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the state of North Dakota or in a compact state. Graduate Nurse (G.N.) must practice under the supervision of a registered nurse while the work authorization to practice is valid. CPR Certified.

Experience: Minimum one year hospital experience or clinical nursing experience.

Skills: Working knowledge of basic clinical skills in delivery of patient care. Must meet Basic Life Support certification within 480 hours of employment. Must have ACLS and/ or PALS certification within 6 months, along with maintaining recertification.

Interpersonal Skills: Good communication skills are necessary because of the constant communication, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors and Medical Center staff.
