The Director, Construction Quality is responsible for supporting the company's commitment to quality at Blue Ridge Power's utility scale solar projects. This position is a key leadership role responsible for the design, implementation, management, and leadership of the company's craft quality assurance program and teams (civil, mechanical and electrical work scopes).

What You'll Do

  • Lead a team and all activities associated with the development and implementation of Quality Assurance policies, procedures, and systems, including developing and implementing quality standard testing, evaluation processes, and related documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with construction leads to institute quality construction operating procedures to support Blue Ridge Power's quality and performance goals.
  • Responsible for aligning organizational designs, key job accountabilities, training requirements and talent development processes to ensure Blue Ridge Power has a high-performing, accountable team of quality professionals.
  • Lead and manage the intake, assessment, and prioritization of quality improvement and innovative ideas to include return on investment and success metric assessments and tracking.
  • Direct and coordinate the development and implementation of quality improvement programs to ensure effective integration and to facilitate change with the end goal of improving the quality of workmanship in Blue Ridge Power projects.
  • Ensure that engineering, construction, and related functions are conducted in compliance with internal standards, contractual requirements, and government regulations.
  • Partner with engineering, procurement, construction, and other cross-functional teams to establish strategic quality initiatives, performance metrics, and continuous improvement targets, and to define roles/responsibilities associated with these programs.
  • Present Quality metrics and targeted updates to Executive leadership.
  • Be the subject matter expert to support questions & findings, review SOPs, and training materials.
  • Prepare and manage the department's financial budget and people plan.
  • Create an environment and framework of learning to support the team's professional development and growth.

Must-Haves
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, including strong perceptual and analytical problem-solving skills related to removal of obstacles, setting of priorities, and ability to diffuse organizational conflicts.
  • Effective communication skills with an ability to work cross-functionally and with a capability to justify quality requirements.
  • Key leadership competencies, including cultural awareness, engagement, visibility, relationship building, ability to influence at all levels of the organization, sound judgment, and the ability to make difficult decisions under pressure.
  • The ability to effectively lead complex projects, influence in a matrixed environment, and collaborate across geographically dispersed functional areas.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communications skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Products including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelors degree in renewables or related industrial, scientific, or business field required; Masters degree preferred.

Work Environment/Physical Demand
  • May require lifting/carrying items up to 50 pounds.
  • Travel up to 50%, as required to meet the needs of the business.
